Niver Dew cottage is located in Pendeen in the far west of Cornwall. Pendeen is a self-contained village in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the rugged Atlantic coastline.

Just a short walk from Niver Dew on a stretch of coast between Pendeen and Morvah is Portheras Cove – one of the last remaining truly local beaches in Cornwall. Owned by the Duchy of Cornwall, the beach is in a delightful sandy cove sheltered by dramatic cliffs.

Stretching east from Pendeen towards the village of Morvah is an area of previous mining activity where the ruins of old enginehouses shape the landscape. For those with an interest in the industry that dominated Cornwall’s economy, Geevor Tin Mining Museum with its underground tours and Levant Engine House are both well worth a visit.

From Morvah, a dramatic coastal road takes you through wonderful unspoilt moorland and coastal scenery to Zennor, with its Wayside Museum, church and pub, and on towards St Ives. St Ives, favourite of artists is home to the newest Tate Gallery. There are also several individual shops and restaurants centred round the bustling harbour and a family leisure centre. Porthmeor Beach popular with surfers is just one of the many beaches accessible from St Ives.

West of Pendeen is the small town of St Just and Cape Cornwall which as the only cape in England provides unrivalled views of the Atlantic coastline. Cape Cornwall also has a golf and country club which is open to non-members.

Further west towards Land’s End is the fantastic Sennen Cove, which with 3 miles of golden sand is the premier swimming and surfing beach in the area. Lands End, Britain’s most westerly point can be reached from Niver Dew cottage by the South West Coast Path, but is only a short drive away through St Just. Porthcurno, home to the unique outdoor Minack Theatre and the famous telegraph museum is a little further south around the coast from Lands End.

Indeed, there is something for everyone a short walk or drive from Niver Dew cottage, so the journey down will be well worth it!
